Major progress made! And crazy wedding dreams!

This weekend we were able to really push through and make some extraordinary progress on the new apartment. We were really fortunate that Dustin’s mum came up with a truck on Saturday. She helped us empty out the old apartment which was tremendously helpful. I hadn’t realized how much we still had left to do at that point. So the old apartment is empty, we just have to clean it up a little. One night this week we will probably go over there to clean.

Since we didn’t bother packing much, we had loads of stuff in garbage bags. It looked like the local dump in the new place. We had to constantly move stuff to walk anywhere in the house. But by the end of Sunday we had dropped off 5 bags and few odd things to goodwill, set up the bookcase, and set up the dvd rack. Everyone knows that just putting away books and dvds clears out about 10-15 boxes.

Dustin spent most of Sunday putting our new desk together. It’s the same desk we had in Virginia but we just didn’t have room in the pod to move it. I remember last year Dustin complaining about how hard it was to put together and this time was no different. It’s sad when the parts to the desk not only go A-Z but through TRIPLE letters. There were about 25 pages of steps to get the damn thing together. Now it’s together other than a few nails that need to be put in (it was too late to nail last night). I love this desk, but damn is it a pain in the arse to put together!

We had a small leak coming through the second bedroom that we think was the washing machine. It should be fixed now, but I’m keeping a close eye on it. We also had a problem with the toilet running. The guy came to fix it today but now we have heavy black stains on the wall which pisses me off. I tried cleaning up a little but it’s not much better. We need a bit of paint to touch it up. The last thing that needs to be done to the apartment is a new thermostat. The AC doesn’t shut off all the time like it should. So sometimes it gets down to 58 degrees. We are going to lowes tonight to get a digital thermostat that we can program and they said they would install it. Neither of us are good at these handy things…where is CQ to teach me these things?!?! I hope to get everything finished by the end of the week.

Speaking of CQ…I had a dream that I had my whole entourage of gay boys as flower girls at the wedding. They were all in suits; except for adam who really took flower girl to its true meaning. CQ and P were also there but P refused to be a flower girl so he was one of the ushers. CQ spent most of the time trying to convince Adam to not dress up as a flower girl. Mateo, Mike, CQ, Adam, P, Jeremy…everyone was there. Jeremy was of course in charge of decor and the overall event coordination. I had a lot of fun in my dream. :)

Slowly moving…

Well it’s finally here.  June 19th.  We started moving into our new place last Friday and I finished up my finals yesterday.  The class went as well as could be expected I suppose.  I’m likely to end up with a B+ which I’m a little disappointed in but it could be worse.  I also have to remind myself this was a 5 week class so it wasn’t easy.  A lot of people in my section were people who retaking anatomy because they didn’t do well the first time.

Everything in my pod was indeed safe, no water!  I got some damage on my furniture, but that was to be expected.  I was amazing at how fast we could unload the pod compared to how long it took us to carefully pack and organize everything into the pod.  We’ve been slowly moving everything from the old apartment over here, but it’s slow going.  We’ve got most of the little things moved out, we just have to get rid of a lot of the furniture.   Since I have a few days off I’m hoping to make a lot of progress here at the new place organizing and putting stuff away.

I’m still trying to tie up loose ends with the old apartment in VA.  Basically they are saying I owe them like 700 dollars but in reality they owe me 1500, so once it’s all said and done (lease break fees etc) they still owe me.  I’d like to fight the lease break fee since someone moved into my apartment but I know I likely won’t get out of it.  I just want it to be done.  I’ve called several times and can rarely get someone to answer and I’ve left messages…but still no returned phone calls.  So I’ve been left to blocking my phone number.  Oddly enough, now they answer.   I finally called up the owners of the property and hopefully that will get the ball rolling a little faster.  We’ll see, I just want this to be done.

Anyway, I’m looking forward to my next set of classes, getting moved, and applying to nursing school.  Hopefully I’ll have photos of the new place soon.

June 19th

I cannot wait til June 19th.  Why?  Well we will have possession of our new apartment, Boyfriend will have taken the LSAT, and I will be done with my first summer class (anatomy).  I’m really looking forward to all that.

Moving: We start moving this Friday (the 13th…eeps).  If you remember, I’ve had all my stuff from Butter Churning Land stored in a Relocube (POD) for the past 6 weeks.  It’s been nice to have my stuff stored so we aren’t tripping over two sets of furniture, but I’m worried.  Indiana has been hit really hard with zillions of tornadoes and now large parts of Indiana is under excessive amounts of water.  We are mostly dry up where I live, but Saturday wasn’t looking good.  We have a pond in current back yard that turned into a raging river only feet away from the house.  I’ve got some photos that I’m hoping to post once I’m done with my finals.  Long story short, we tried to drive over to where my stuff is stored and we couldn’t even get there because it was all under water.  Yes my cube is stored outside.  They claim it’s “waterproof” but I’m more worried about it being “flood proof”.  I’m really hoping it hasn’t been sitting in loads of water.  My stuff is insured at 30c a pound, but that only works out to be around 750 dollars….not nearly enough to cover the contents.  But I’m hoping for the best.  I’ll find out for sure on Friday.

We’ve got a washer and dryer!!  It’s practically a brand new set and we got it off of Craigslist for $350.  I’m so happy to be leaving our current washer and dryer! Our current set which came with the old apartment is loud.  Not only is it loud but the dryer doesn’t dry…it burns.  I don’t get it.  We also got a water cooler since city water is disgusting and I hate the idea of buying bottled water.  The new apartment complex was also nice enough to install a ceiling fan we bought too.  YAY!

Boyfriend takes the LSAT on June 16th.  He’s been doing great on the practice tests so I’m hoping that he can just pull through.  I know he’s looking forward to being done with that.  It just takes up so much time and energy.

I’m nearly done with my first summer session!  I can hardly believe it.  I just moved out here only 6 weeks ago! Anatomy has been going well.  I have a test on Thursday and then the lab/lecture finals are next Wednesday (18th).  I’m really looking forward to being done with this class.  It has been interesting, but it’s a lot of work.  I have class from 11-3:15 but I’m on campus from 9-5 so I’ve been studying before and after class…only to come home and study more.  I think my second summer semester will be much easier.  I only have classes on Tuesday and Thursday (not mon-thurs like I do now) and the classes should be substantially easier.  I’ll be taking two classes, intro to psych and intro to soc.

Last night I had to give official testimony for the “honor council hearing” for the cheaters.  They could not understand how unlikely it would be to have so many similar exams (same bizarrely wrong answers, same misspellings, etc across 6 exams).  The biggest stumper was that they couldn’t understand that scantrons usually don’t match.  Whatever…I’m so done with that bullshit.

Anyway, things are going well.  I’m just looking forward to having a little more free time after the 18th.   I’m making Boyfriend watch Buffy…and I can’t wait til we have more time to watch SPIKE :)

Keeping up…

I’ve been keeping up with my Anatomy class this semester. Anatomy has also been taking up a lot of my time since we have a lot of material to cover in such a short time.  We have our second set of exams next week and the course will be over on June 18th.  So far so good.  Later this afternoon I’m going to work on studying the muscles and brain.

Memorial weekend was really nice.  I normally don’t have class on Fridays but class was also canceled on Monday; hello four day weekend!  I was not very productive with studying but I got to catch up on some down time which was very much needed.  Friday night we had some friends over and we had Papa Murphy’s pizza and played the wii…lots of fun.  On Saturday Dustin planned a date for us.  It was a nice day, so Dustin took me to Rascal’s which is a little amusement park with go karts, water boats, two putt-putt courses, and arcade games.  It was a lot of fun, we were there for about 6 hours and had a picnic!  On Sunday we caught up with some grocery shopping and cleaning.  Dustin had to work on Monday because he was upgrading the learning management system (blackboard, angel, oncourse, etc) for his department.  So I had some time to myself which was AWESOME!!!

Time to myself can be dangerous…I was a slightly bad girl. I ended up being trendy and hip.  I bought an iPhone.  (Kelli didn’t help dissuade me either!)  Yeah, yeah…probably not entirely necessary but I managed to convince myself that it would be quite useful.  My current phone was overdue for an upgrade since last November and I’ve not found a single damn phone that I’ve liked.  I’ve always been one of those people who don’t see the need for a phone with all these gadgets, but wow…its actually useful.  The main reason why I decided to go for it was the maps.  I’m not ashamed to admit I have no clue how to get around the city here.  It was a lot easier to get around butter churning land because it was so small.  I don’t drive too often I ride to campus with Dustin and we usually just take his car when we need to go somewhere.  For those of you who do not know me well…I’m a little terrified of getting lost.  Some of you may remember me getting lost in Gosport which is a tiny one street town…yeah I lost it.  I was afraid of the barefoot rednecks for obvious reasons…my car was not familiar so they stared at me.  Yeah I don’t like that.  The iPhone has a “soft” GPS where they use cell phone towers to triangulate your location…which is useful if you’re lost and need directions.  Granted I’ll eventually get used to the city, but at the same time it’s a nice security blanket.  It’s also proved quite useful on campus.  I usually carry my computer to campus so I can MSN with Dustin to arrange times to go home (he really can’t answer his phone at work but is required to use MSN).  Now I don’t have to lug around my big ass laptop.  I don’t know…maybe I’m a convert to multiuse phones.  I can certainly say I’ve been using the hell out of it though.  I’d recommend it.  Though if you decide to get one…definitely buy a hard shell and the crystal anti-glare screen protector.

Anyway, I guess I should finish cleaning the apartment so I can go study and exercise.

Very busy with no time for fun :(

Since I’ve moved back to Indiana I’ve been swamped.  I arrived in Indiana on a Sunday and started my first summer class on Wednesday.  This first summer session I’m taking anatomy which is tough because it’s simply just a lot of information to know and I’m in class from 11-3:15 (when is lunch??).  We had our first lab and lecture exams this week (Tuesday and Wednesday).  I was so stressed that I ended up grinding my teeth like mad again so it hurts to eat or talk.  I did okay on the lab…not as well as I would have liked (83) and did well on the lecture (98).  I’m not too worried, I get 25 bonus points for good attendance so I’m doing okay.   I just wish I had a bit more personal time.  I take 30 min breaks at home and play Mario Kart on the wii to let my brain settle some.  I really need to work better at getting my jogging in, but it’s been really hard.  If I go, I end up so exhausted afterwards I’m pretty much worthless for studying.

I found out that applications for the Nursing Program start July 15th and end August 15th.  The interesting part is that it will only count my summer classes towards my application GPA.  So far without my summer classes I’m at a 3.82 and hopefully I’ll add three more A’s to that.  I should be fine.  Last year they went down to a 3.6 for admissions and a lot of the girls in my anatomy class are well below my GPA so I think as long as  I don’t do something stupid I’m ok.

I’m really looking forward to my four day weekend this week.  I get to see my chiptole friend jeremy on friday for lunch and my kelli is coming to visit on friday evening :)  YAY FUN!!!!

Anyway…I should look over today’s lab material.  I’m so exuasted…

Weekend update and some photog :)

A quick update before I start studying before class. I’m really lacking motivation and feeling really overwhelmed about everything right now. I’m sure everything will be fine but I’m a bit shocked with everything that has gone on for the past few weeks. Finishing the semester, moving, starting at a new school, trying to find new place to get my allergy shots etc is really overwhelming. I’ll be fine once we get moved into our new place. I have my first Anatomy Lab test next Tuesday…OMG!

This past weekend we went with some friends to see Speed Racer at the IMAX. I don’t care what the critics say…I LOVED IT! Has some really great effects and was pulled off really well. I loved Speed Racer as a kid so maybe that’s why I liked it?? But I think everyone we saw it with liked it as well.

Mother’s Day went okay. Saw Dustin’s family which was nice and then went to my mum’s where my sister was (yuck). It was all okay. I was a little sick to my stomach but I’m okay today.

I finally got my Mario Kart!!  But Kelli…I’ve not received my new router yet so hold tight :)  I should get it this week…probably by Wednesday!

Oh and before I forget. I’ve uploaded some pictures of my moving pod (aka relocube).

Moving

totally full

Also here are some baby geese right outside our apartment. We also have some soft shelled turtles!

Back home…

Well my idea of having a last blog post in butter churning land failed but such is life.  We were some how able to fit all of my crap into a single pod.  Don’t get me wrong, I had to get rid of a lot of stuff, but I was able to fit everything I needed/wanted into a pod or my car.  I did take some photos and I also took a video of the delivery of my pod :)  I will write more later, but I wanted to let everyone know I made it back safely…despite backtracking 2 hours as I forgot my allergy serums in the fridge of the old apartment *sigh*.  But today is my first day of classes…how weird.

Should be packing but I’m a bad girl

Yes, I know…I should be packing but you know what?? Packing sucks. Randomly, someone just got ambulanced out of my building! hope they are ok! 15 min later another ambulance!
